Alternativas al uso del circón como materia prima para preparar recubrimientos vidriados opacos, con el fin de reducir su consumo

Abstract

En este trabajo se estudia la posibilidad de disminuir o eliminar la utilización del circón en composiciones de engobe y frita, en las que se utiliza como materia prima debido a que proporciona blancura y opacidad a las capas de engobe y a los vidriados obtenidos a partir de las fritas.Se ha determinado que la utilización de alúmina como materia prima en los engobes permite reducir su contenido en circón. En el caso de las fritas, la adición de pentóxido de fósforo a su composición permite disminuir la cantidad de circón empleando en su preparación. Por último, se han obtenido fritas, sin circonio, basadas en el sistema SiO2-CaO-TiO2. En los tres casos se ha llevado a cabo un estudio micro estructural con el objeto de determinar cuales son las causas que permiten la disminución o la eliminación del circón sin producir un emperoramiento de la blancura y la opacidad de las capas de engobe y de los vidriados.
