El presente artículo es uno de los resultados obtenidos en el desarrollo de una tesis de Maestría en Finanzas de la universidad EAFIT. En este se presenta evidencia a favor de la utilización de modelos econométricos para estimar la probabilidad de incumplimiento de un deudor, ya que al utilizar estas estimaciones se obtienen resultados que generan provisiones esperadas de menor cuantía que las predeterminadas por el ente regulador, así como también las estimadas por la entidad financiera.
This article is one the results in the development of a master thesis in finance from the University EAFIT. This presents evidence for the use of econometric models to estimate the probability of default of a debtor, and that using these estimates to generate the results are expected provisions is smallers than the predetermined by the regulator, as well as those estimated by the financial institution.
