Modificación polimérica de asfaltos

Abstract

El asfalto es un material constituido por una mezcla de diversos hidrocarburos de origen natural, sus buenas propiedades aglutinantes e hidrofóbicas lo han llevado a ser ampliamente utilizado en aplicaciones que van desde la impermeabilización hasta la fabricación de vías. Sin embargo, las propiedades del asfalto son altamente susceptibles a cambios de temperatura conllevando a que asfaltos que funcionan adecuadamente a temperaturas ambientales altas no presenten igual comportamiento a bajas temperaturas o viceversa. Debido a esto se ha generado un interés en el sector de la construcción de desarrollar vías y productos, basados en este material, que sean cada vez más duraderos y que puedan ser aplicados en temperaturas ambientales altas (Ta > 40ºC) o bajas (Ta < 0 ºC) sin que se afecte su comportamiento en servicio, lo que ampliaría el rango de aplicación de estos materiales.
