Abstract

This thesis addresses the current state and challenges of grassroots Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Medellín, focusing on the urgent need to strengthen their capacities to ensure their economic and operational sustainability and their role as agents of social change. The work is based on the premise that organized collective action is essential to counteract growing individualism and social inequality, and that CSOs are key actors in building more just and democratic societies. The research asks, with urgency and empathy, what capacities these organizations need to strengthen to not only survive but also lead processes of change. What factors weaken them? Why, despite their commitment, do they continue to be neglected? At a time when international cooperation is declining and challenges are multiplying, this work seeks answers that dignify their work and recognize their role as essential actors in the social fabric.
