Abstract

La agroindustria en Colombia posee un gran potencial de crecimiento debido a las tierras fértiles del país, la variedad de condiciones climáticas y el déficit de materias primas a disposición del sector de alimentos balanceados; constituyéndose como una oportunidad de inversión ante los múltiples retos y necesidades que posee. Por lo anterior, se requiere un conocimiento técnico especializado para generar valor de cara a los clientes y consumidores finales de las materias primas empleadas, siendo necesario un análisis a detalle que permita diseñar estrategias de penetración de mercado ante las barreras de entrada existentes. En el sector de alimentos balanceados para mascotas, se identificó la necesidad de disponer de alimentos con un alto valor nutricional, donde la ahuyama se perfila como un potencial insumo para la producción de materia prima de origen vegetal, con valores nutricionales adecuados para suplir lo requerido en salud animal. En consecuencia, se realizó un estudio de prefactibilidad para el montaje y comercialización de una planta procesadora de harina de ahuyama en la región caribe colombiana, de acuerdo con los lineamientos de la ONUDI.

The agro-industry in Colombia has a great potential for growth due to the country's fertile lands, the variety of climatic conditions, and the lack of raw materials available to the animal feed sector, which is becoming an investment opportunity in the face of the many challenges and needs it has to deal with; therefore, expert technical knowledge is required to create value for customers and final consumers of the raw materials used, and a detailed analysis is needed to design market penetration strategies in the context of existing barriers to entry. In the pet food sector, there has been an interest in feeds with high nutritional value, where pumpkin is emerging as a potential input for producing raw materials of vegetable origin with adequate nutritional values to satisfy animal health demands. Therefore, a pre-feasibility study was done for the installation and commercialization of a pumpkin flour processing plant in the Caribbean region of Colombia according to UNIDO.
