Petrofacies cuantitativas a partir de análisis multivariado en la formación Amagá

Abstract

La determinación de petrofacies cuantitativas en estudios geológicos es un mecanismo de gran utilidad para identificar la composición de área fuente y mecanismos de acumulación de una cuenca, lo que permite a su vez proponer hipótesis sobre cuerpos geológicos que fueron encargados de aportar el material a la cuenca; estas, a diferencia de las petrofacies tradicionalmente identificadas a través de diagramas ternarios, permiten usar bases de datos con más variables para dicha identificación (e.g. tamaño de grano, selección). El presente proyecto integra una recopilación de 151 conteos petrográficos pertenecientes a la Formación Amagá, los cuales debido a su disimilaridad permiten identificar 7 petrofacies cuantitativas a partir de un estudio multivariado en el que se incluye análisis de clúster y escalado multidimensional no métrico (EMD-NM), cada uno de estos métodos con el uso de la distancia Euclidiana debido a la correlación lineal entre las variables. Con base en lo anterior, se discute la posible afinidad de dichas petrofacies con cuerpos geológicos adyacentes a la cuenca, en términos de su señal de procedencia.
