Abstract

Los activos intangibles son parte importante del valor de mercado de una empresa, en especial la marca, pues recoge la ventaja competitiva de la firma para vender un determinado producto o servicio; sin embargo, ni la contabilidad ni las finanzas poseen aún una adecuada metodología para valorarlos financieramente. La mayoría de métodos de medición de intangibles que existen son subjetivos, presentan limitaciones y hasta errores conceptuales desde el punto de vista financiero. Dichos modelos terminan empleándose más para la gestión que para la valoración de los intangibles.

Intangible assets are an important component of the market value of a company, especially brands that represent the competitive advantage of the company to sell a particular product or service; however, neither the accounting nor the finances propose an appropriate method for valuing them. Most methods are subjective, have limitations and sometimes misconceptions from a financial point of view. Most of these models end up being used for the management of intangibles.
