Caracterización multiescala de la Formación Umir, entendiendo la heterogeneidad espacial desde una perspectiva microscópica

Abstract

El presente trabajo genera una caracterización desde la escala de centímetros (cm) a micrómetros (μm) mediante el análisis de roca digital utilizando tomografía computarizada de rayos X (CT), microscopía electrónica de barrido (SEM), difracción de rayos X (XRD), fluorescencia de rayos X (XRF) y capacidad de intercambio catiónico (CEC). La metodología presentada en este estudio fue realizada en un núcleo recuperado entre los 8060 – 8250 pies (2455 – 2515 metros) y complementados con información obtenida anteriormente correspondiente a 11 núcleos más (5650 – 8060 y 8250 – 8303 pies), todos pertenecientes al mismo pozo. Sin embargo, por cuestiones de confidencialidad el nombre de este no puede ser suministrado en el presente trabajo. Los conjuntos de datos se registraron entre sí y se utilizaron para extraer las principales propiedades petrofísicas de la lutita de la Formación Umir como la mineralogía, composición química y tamaño de poro/fractura, esta información será la base del diseño de un fluido de perforación, permitiendo determinar la estrategia más efectiva del sello óptimo para minimizar perdidas y asegurar la estabilidad de la Formación al momento de ser perforada y no comprometer así la operación.
