La microestructura de los prefabricados de concreto

Abstract

El concreto seco vibrocompactado es un material que por sus características de rápido desmoldeo permite la elaboración de una amplia gama de productos prefabricados, como bloques, adoquines, tuberías, entre otros. Existen muchos estudios sobre las características mecánicas de estos elementos, sin embargo existen muy pocos, inclusive a nivel internacional, que correlacionen estas características con la estructura interna del material y el porqué de su comportamiento.Este artículo presenta los resultados de un estudio sobre los concretos secos vibrocompactados para adoquines de concreto, teniendo en cuenta la resistencia mecánica y su correlación con la microestructura. Se utilizaron tres mezclas (dos concretos secos y una de concreto convencional) y se comparan los resultados en cuanto a comportamiento mecánico, microestructura y porosidad. El estudio de la distribución de la porosidad se realiza por medio de porosimetría de mercurio, y la estructura interna del material por medio de microscopía electrónica de barrido SEM. Los resultados muestran la influencia de las microfi suras en la resistencia mecánica y la razón por la cual un producto como el adoquín, dosificado con menos cantidad de cemento que un concreto convencional, tiene un buen comportamiento mecánico.
