Abstract

Se estudió la factibilidad del proceso de producción del carbón activado, aceite, y agua de coco a partir del fruto del cocotero -- Normalmente solo se utiliza el 20% del coco y el resto es desperdiciado [1] -- Por ello se vislumbraron oportunidades para aprovechar los subproductos (i.e. cáscara, pulpa, y agua) generados en la explotación del coco a escala del laboratorio -- Se reportaron las propiedades fisicoquímicas en fichas técnicas de los productos obtenidos -- Se escaló el proceso con un diseño conceptual, la capacidad del proceso se sustentó en un estudio de mercado para cada uno de los productos y según la disponibilidad de materia prima de la zona -- Se costearon los equipos de acuerdo con los balances de materia del proceso y se cotizaron con proveedores nacionales e internacionales -- Se programo la producción en diagramas de Gantt -- Se obtuvo un VPN de 862 M COP para la planta de alimentos (proceso de separación, aceite de coco virgen y agua de coco) y un VPN de -3149 M COP para la planta de carbón activado -- Por lo tanto, se recomienda realizar la planta de alimentos y no la del carbón activado
