Injerto óseo a base de espuma de hidroxiapatita

Abstract

La apatita es el componente mineral principal de los tejidos óseos (huesos, dentina y esmalte) y su presencia en los tejidos se presenta como hidroxiapatita (HA) -- La hidroxiapatita sintética tiene excelente biocompatibilidad y bioactividad, presentando como desventaja su baja resistencia mecánica -- En esta investigación se buscó obtener espumas de hidroxiapatita usando la técnica gel-casting, en la cual se combina HA pura y monómeros orgánicos para formar cuerpos porosos con mejores propiedades mecánicas en comparación con la HA pura y con una excelente osteointegración -- Las espumas fueron caracterizadas usando difracción de rayos X (DRX), microscopía electrónica de barrido (SEM), espectroscopia de energía dispersiva (EDS) -- Además fueron ensayados mecánicamente a compresión -- Los resultados mostraron que su estructura está conformada por macroporos interconectados y con superficie rugosa, además que la resistencia mecánica es comparable con la del hueso trabecular -- Colocando las espumas de hidroxiapatita como un material con potencial uso en aplicaciones médicas
