Abstract

Camellia sinensis e Matricaria chamomilla são duas plantas muito utilizadas na medicina popular de civilizações distintas para o tratamento de diversas patologias. Os antibióticos penicilina G, oxacilina e vancomicina são os mais recorrentes no tratamento de infecções por S. aureus. A resistência à meticilina induz a multirresistência de S. aureus. Determinou-se um perfil de resistências de isolados de S. aureus em ambulatório aos antibióticos. Avaliou-se a actividade antibacteriana dos extractos etanólico brutos (EEB) pelo método DAA (decimal assay for additivity). Este método permite avaliar a interacção dos extractos com cada um dos antibióticos. Os resultados revelaram que ambos os extractos possuem uma actividade antibacteriana contra MRSA. C. sinensis expressa melhor uma interacção sinérgica que M. chamomilla. A avaliação da interacção extracto-antibiótico de cada uma destas espécies vegetais sugere a necessidade de estudos complementares considerando o isolamento de substâncias responsáveis pela actividade antibacteriana, o estudo do mecanismo envolvido na modelação da multirresistência e a realização de testes toxicológicos para viabilizar a sua utilização no tratamento de patologias provocadas por S. aureus. ABSTRACT: Camellia sinensis and Matricaria chamomilla are two herbs widely used in folk medicine of different civilizations to treat various diseases. The antibiotics penicillin G, oxacillin and vancomycin are the most frequent in the treatment of infections with S. aureus. The methicillin resistance induces multidrug resistance of S. aureus. It was determined a resistance profile of isolates of S. aureus in outpatient antibiotic. We evaluated the antibacterial activity of crude ethanolic extracts (CEE) through the method DAA (decimal assay for additivity). This method allows to evaluate the interaction of extracts with each of the antibiotics. The results showed that both extracts have antibacterial activity against MRSA. C. sinensis have shown better synergistic interaction than M. chamomilla. The evaluation of the interaction antibiotic-extract of each of these species suggests the need for further studies considering the isolation of substances responsible for antibacterial activity, the study of the mechanism involved in the modeling of multidrug resistance and drug testing to enable its use in the treatment of diseases caused by S. aureus.
