Abstract

ABSTRACT: The process emissions in the wood sector industries are a complex theme due to the several variables that origin them, mostly caused by the utilization of the raw material. In the specific case of the wood drying in particleboard factories, the emissions are due to the combustion process used to create heat needed for the drying of the wood shavings. This work seeks to analyse a case study of this sector, evaluating the working of the existent technology to obtain a relation between the gaseous emissions and the process conditions as the working of the scrubber, the entrance temperature, the fuel used in the combustion, the dryer load, the cappings position, the flame/camera combustion temperature and the use of wood residues with the emissions. Some changes were performed in equipments used in the process. For example in the washing gases system the improvements were well-known, by the work in the optimization of the water quality used. The data of the emissions coming from the continuous monitoring system and the process conditions registries were related to conclude about the changing in the emissions with the process variables on the shaving drying.
