Abstract

The New Product Development is a critical process that represents a competitive advantage to organizations, and requires a commitment from all functional areas. The main aim of this study was to understand the mechanisms of action of the Development Process of New Products in commercial vehicle industries, emphasizing the stages of idea management and product development. This dissertation follows a qualitative methodology in order to promote management improvement. This is a descriptive and exploratory project based on a case study. The latter permitted the comparison between several real facts, main models and principles presented by several authors. The revision of a set of variables influential in the current process has enabled the identification of potential causes of conflict. They hold a negative impact on projects’ goals, which confirms the importance of certain tools and concepts towards the optimization of such processes as complex as the New Product Development.
