Background: Human aging is an inevitable stage of life that involves somatic and psychosocial changes, which interact continuously and where everyone affects and is affected, having an impact on family functioning and the perception of burdens of the Family Caregivers. Objectives: The objective of this study is to critically reflect on the learning trajectory undertaken to acquire both common and specialized competencies in Community Health Nursing, with a particular focus on Family Health Nursing. Additionally, this study aims to delineate the sociodemographic characteristics of the family caregiver of a dependent elderly individual registered at Family Health Unit 2 of the Health Center Group (ACES) Grande Porto IV, under the Regional Health Administration of the North, specifically within the Póvoa de Varzim/Vila do Conde Local Health Unit (ULSPVVC). Furthermore, the analysis will aim to establish a correlation between family cohesion and flexibility and the perceived burden experienced by the caregiver. Methods: This study presents a descriptive, critical, and reflective narrative regarding the acquisition of both common and specialized skills among Community Health Nursing practitioners, with a particular focus on Family Health Nursing. A quantitative, descriptive, and correlational cross-sectional study design was employed, utilizing a non-probabilistic sampling method for convenience. The sample comprised Family Caregivers associated with users enrolled in the Elderly Health Program and the Dependent Health Program, located within the SClínico application of Family Health Unit 2. Data collection was conducted through hetero completion, using an instrument that included a sociodemographic characterization inventory, the Zarit Scale, and the Faces Scale IV, all of which have been validated for the Portuguese population. Data analysis was performed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (IBM®SPSS®) software for Windows, version 29, 2021, SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL. All formal and ethical guidelines inherent to the empirical research process were strictly adhered to Results: The analyses indicate that family caregivers experience moderate to high levels of burden, influenced by variables such as the caregiver's age and the time spent caring for the family member. A significant relationship was observed between family cohesion and flexibility and caregiver burden, highlighting the importance of effective family communication and high family satisfaction in mitigating stress associated with the caregiver role. In this context, the common and specialized competencies in Community Health Nursing, specifically in the area of Family Health Nursing, were developed. Conclusion: The results obtained revealed significant trends that contribute to a broader understanding of the challenges faced by Family Caregivers, highlighting the overload to which they are subject and the implications that family dynamics have in this context. The analysis showed that family cohesion and flexibility are related to caregiver burden; families with greater balance tend to have lower levels of burden, emphasizing the importance of communication and mutual support.

Enquadramento: O envelhecimento humano é uma etapa inevitável da vida que envolve modificações somáticas e psicossociais, que interagem de forma continua e onde cada uma afeta e é afetada, tendo impacto no funcionamento familiar e na perceção da sobrecarga do Cuidador Familiar. Objetivo: Refletir criticamente sobre o percurso de aprendizagem desenvolvido e conducente à aquisição de competências comuns de especialista e especializadas em Enfermagem de Saúde Comunitária, área de Enfermagem de Saúde Familiar; Descrever as caraterísticas sociodemográficas do cuidador familiar do utente idoso dependente, inscrito na Unidade de Saúde Familiar 2, do Agrupamento de Centros de Saúde (ACES) Grande Porto IV, da Administração Regional de Saúde do Norte, atual Unidade Local de Saúde Póvoa de Varzim/Vila do Conde (ULSPVVC), bem como correlacionar a coesão e flexibilidade familiar com perceção de sobrecarga por este expressa. Métodos: Narrativa descritiva, critica e reflexiva, sobre processo de aquisição das competências comuns e especialistas de Enfermeiro Enfermagem de Saúde Comunitária, área da Enfermagem de Saúde Familiar. Estudo empírico do tipo quantitativo, descritivo e correcional, transversal, aplicado a uma amostra selecionada pelo método de amostragem não probabilístico, por conveniência, constituída por Cuidadores Familiares de utentes identificados no Programa de Saúde de Idosos e no Programa de Saúde Dependentes, no aplicativo SClínico da Unidade de Saúde Familiar 2. Os dados foram colhidos por heteropreenchimento, com recurso a um instrumento constituído por um Inventário de caracterização sociodemográfica, a Escala de Zarit e a Escala de Faces IV, validadas para a população portuguesa. Os dados foram analisados com recurso ao programa informático Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (IBM®SPSS®) para o Windows versão 29, 2021, SPSS Inc., Chicago, III. Foram cumpridos todos os pressupostos formais e éticos inerentes ao processo de investigação empírica Resultados: As análises indicam que os cuidadores familiares experienciam níveis moderados a elevados de sobrecarga, o que é influenciado por variáveis como a idade do cuidador e o tempo dedicado ao cuidado do familiar. Foi, igualmente, observada uma relação significativa entre a coesão e flexibilidade familiar e a sobrecarga do cuidador, sublinhando a importância de uma comunicação familiar eficaz e de uma satisfação familiar elevada na redução do stresse associado ao papel de cuidador. Neste contexto, foram desenvolvidas as competências comuns de especialista e especializadas em Enfermagem de Saúde Comunitária, área de Enfermagem de Saúde Familiar; Conclusão: Os resultados revelaram tendências significativas que contribuem para uma compreensão mais ampla dos desafios enfrentados pelos Cuidadores Familiares, destacando a sobrecarga a que estes estão sujeitos e as implicações que as dinâmicas familiares têm neste contexto. A análise mostrou que a coesão e a flexibilidade familiar estão relacionadas com a sobrecarga do cuidador; famílias com maior equilíbrio tendem a apresentar níveis mais baixos de sobrecarga, enfatizando a importância da promoção da comunicação efetiva e do suporte mútuo.
