In 2022, the University of Aveiro started the implementation of DUnAs, an open repository for archiving and publishing data that supports scientific research at the University of Aveiro, Portugal. This abstract presents an experience with DUnAS, through a pilot research project from INET-md research center. The project, called SOMA - Sounds and Memories of Aveiro, belongs to the field of Ethnomusicology and deals with audiovisual data. In Ethnomusicology, researchers often work with multiple types of multimedia documents such as photos, videos, sounds, and music recordings. The need to preserve and easily access, visualize, and annotate such materials can be problematic and challenging. Some of the “obstacles” faced in the implementation of this repository, in an ethnomusicological context, are presented and some important questions are posed.
