Abstract

The following dissertation comes from the necessity of creating new signage elements for PCI- Creative Science Park-, a building complex of different natures, that currently uses an inefficient or almost non-existent orientation system. This dissertation can be placed in wayfinding and signage design area. PCI becomes an instrument for the reflexion about design contribution between the physical space and the institution, where the designer role is to connect function to sketch, in a coherent and attractive way, and with the goal to provide the best circulation experience to the user. The theorical context focuses in the study of space and user relationship, as well the messages and symbols associated with a orientation system. Relevant case studies to the project theme are also presented. The assumptions of this research are applied to the project object: PCI building complex. Based on the developed project, it can be concluded that the designer takes a highlighted role in the institutional space and its users, weather there are intern or extern to it. The resulting signage is user centered and takes in consideration his necessities, at the same time that provides a distinguished experience in space and reflects the institution identity.
