Constelação MEO para telecomunicações: estudo experimental

Abstract

The work presented in this thesis represents one piece of the work about the propagation campaign with MEO satellites, called O3b constellation, that currently have downlink frequencies of 19 GHz. In this thesis, it is presented and developed the software that acquires the data stream of the satellites telemetry beacons, the processing of the created data files and the detection of the received signal. The receiver is based in a Software Defined Radio (SDR) and the detection algorithm uses spectral techniques (FFTs). Firstly, its described the O3b constellation and the problems that we face because of it belonging to a MEO orbit. After that, the receiver hardware is presented along with the used SDR and SDR software, The algorithm that acquires the data stream from the SDR is also described. In the next step, the detection algorithm that uses spectral techniques to detect the telemetry beacon is described. This algorithm also acquires information from the propagation channel. Finally, a set-up to simulate the front-end (antenna and mixers) is mounted to test all the developed softwares and analyze the detection results.
