Vinculação, estilos educativos parentais e a violência no namoro

Abstract

The present investigation aims to explore the differences between men and women regarding patterns and representations of attachment, parenting educational practices and the use of negative conflict resolution strategies used within a loving relationship, as well as examining the association between the various variables taking into account the global sample of participants. 103 university students (62 females and 41 males) participated in the study and 5 assessment instruments were applied: a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Childhood Memories Scale (EMBU), the Mother and Father Linking Questionnaire (QVPM), the Adult Bonding Scale (EVA) and the Inventory of Conflicts in the Teenage Dating Relationship (CADRI-P). When comparing the groups, the data indicated that, although there are no significant differences in terms of the use of negative conflict resolution strategies in the love relationship, differences were found in relation to Separation and Dependence Anxiety (mother) and Overprotection (mother). With regard to the global sample, a positive association was found between the Inhibition of Exploration and Individuality (father) and Overprotection (father), and a negative association with Emotional Support (mother), as well as the Inhibition of Exploration and Individuality (mother) associated positively with Critical / Parental Rejection (mother) and with Overprotection (mother) and negatively with Emotional Support (mother and father). Regarding the Quality of the Emotional Bond (mother), it was positively associated with Emotional Support (mother and father) and in a negative way with Critical / Parental Rejection (mother and father), as well as the Quality of Emotional Bond (father) associated positively with Emotional Support (mother and father) and negatively with Critical / Parental Rejection (mother). A positive association was also found between Anxiety and Parental Criticism / Rejection (mother), as well as between Separation and Dependence Anxiety (mother and father) and Emotional Support (mother and father), respectively.
