IoT (Internet of Things) no Retalho Alimentar

Abstract

The present work has as main goal to suggest the implementation of an integrative and management platform for IOT solutions that will represent an added value for the food retail sector. The initial study of the state-of-the-art will be the basis and together with the identification and analysis of the current landscape will help to find and reference the most viable and promising IoT technologies for the industry. From this precept emerges the suggestion of PLATIJEMA; an integrating platform for IoT techniques and resources that encompasses two work areas; BACKJEMA (BackOffice Interface) dedicated to the backstage of the stores and FRONTJEMA (FrontOffice Interface) targeted and visible to the outside public. With two types of recommendations; the generic ones that are vital for the start-up and operation of the platform and the specific ones that give PLATIJEMA features and opportunities to streamline, boost, differentiate, make the most of our human and technical resources. We suggest for the specific recommendations a phased implementation and a continuous assessment with possible readjustments. We emphasize that all recommendations will be part of the same integrating platform, PLATIJEMA, and that there is a correlation of information and resource sharing between them. Together they will be able to provide upstream and downstream management solutions and will be a vital work tool for the entire Company. This project will be the cradle that allows the creating of a system capable of managing all IoT applications that the company decides to own and adopt in the future. As future recommendations we leave two appeals. One to retailers; that do not constantly and massively adopt the term IoT as a simple expression of sales, but employ true IoT techniques and resources that can underpin and demarcate their businesses. To the investigators we request for future object of investigation; the identification of new techniques and their possible impact and success in retail through field experiences conducted in partnership with companies in the sector
