Abstract

ABSTRACT: The present research includes the study of a annealing heat treatment in a steel forging product, and the feasibility of being replaced by a controlled temperature cooling process, using the residual heat resultant from the forging process, with all the economical benefits. The study was developed in three groups of samples, one of them untreated, the other was annealed, and the last one with samples obtained from the controlled temperature cooling process. The hardness tests results and the microstructure observations obtained revealed the feasibility of the replacement of the annealing treatment for the controlled temperature cooling process.
