Abstract

The detergents are part of our daily routine and, in this project, have been studied those with hydrogen peroxide in their formulation, this being an oxidant agent that is used as a bleaching agent. The main goal of this project was to study the variation of the concentration of the oxidant agent in 8 products at 3 different temperatures and one of these products was also exposed to solar radiation. The determination of the concentration was made by permanganate titration and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy was used to confirm the presence of the products’ components and to evaluate which bonds were affected by temperature and radiation it was exposed to. Generally, it’s possible to conclude that the higher the temperature which the product is, the higher the degradation rate of hydrogen peroxide will be. Furthermore, the exposure to solar radiation speeds up the degradation of this bleaching agent.
