Abstract

This work studied the spectral multiplexing of QR codes using organic-inorganic hybrid materials with the purpose to increase the storage capacity of the QR codes. There were used QR codes printed in polymethylmethacrylate coated with an organic-inorganic hybrid material doped with optical centers of Rhodamine 6G and an organic-inorganic complex with Terbium3+ ions. These codes were overlapped to a QR code printed on paper to do the multiplexing. The multiplexed QR codes were studied using exposure to ambient light and UV light to do the excitation of the luminescent materials. The color components in the RGB system of each QR code was studied in order to demultiplex and finally obtain the original QR code. This work proved that is possible to increase the capacity to store information in a QR code without changing its physical dimensions using spectral multiplexing and organic-inorganic hybrid materials.
