Otimização do dimensionamento de lotes na Extrusal

Abstract

This work came under the internship of the Masters in Mathematics and Applications whose problem was proposed by Extrusal, an extrusion and treatment pro files aluminium company. The existence of profi les whose ordered quantity is less than the minimum amount of production strategically set by the company motivated this work. It is intended to provide a decision support tool for the production planning process of the company in respect to these profi les, taking into account the costs of set-up, production and stock. The decisions take into account not only the eff ective demand for each pro file as well as their predicted demand over time. A mixed integer programming model is presented and discussed for this problem which allows the possibility to obtain its optimal solution. In practice, it was shown that by increasing the number of studied profi les, it became more diffi cult to obtain the optimal solution through exact methods in a short time. For this purpose, two heuristics that allow obtaining high quality solutions in reasonable computational time were proposed. Randomly generated instances are used, allowing the evaluation of the eff ectiveness and eff ciency of the developed heuristics. Throughout the work, the Xpress optimization software was used to obtain the results. In order to take into account the uncertainty of demand, a robust optimization model is proposed, allowing to incorporate some risk aversion into the planning decision. In the fi nal part, as a contribution to the company, a mathematical model was developed in an open source language, GMPL, incorporated in Excel's SolverStudio, which can easily be used in a day-to-day basis by the company so as to assist in decision making.

Este trabalho surgiu no âmbito do estágio final do Mestrado em Matemática e Aplicações cujo problema foi proposto pela Extrusal, uma empresa de extrusão e tratamento de perfi s de alumínio. A existência de perfi s cuja quantidade encomendada é inferior à quantidade mínima de produção de finida estrategicamente pela empresa deu mote ao presente trabalho. Pretende-se auxiliar o processo de planeamento de produção da empresa em relação a estes perfi s, tendo em conta os custos de set-up, de produção e de stock. As decisões tomadas têm em conta não só a procura efetiva de cada perfi l como também a procura prevista dos mesmos ao longo dos tempos. Apresenta-se um modelo de programação inteira mista para este problema com o qual é possível obter a solução ótima do mesmo. Comprova-se na prática que aumentando o número de perfi s em estudo, torna-se difícil a obtenção da solução ótima através de métodos exatos e em tempo útil. Para isso, propõem-se duas heurísticas que permitem obter soluções de boa qualidade em tempos computacionais razoáveis. Serão usados exemplos gerados aleatoriamente, que permitem avaliar a efi cácia e a efi ciência das heurísticas desenvolvidas. Ao longo do trabalho, foi usado o software de otimização Xpress para a obtenção dos resultados. Para lidar com a incerteza nas procuras, é proposto um modelo de otimização robusta que incorpora aversão ao risco. Na parte final, como contributo para a empresa, foi desenvolvido o modelo matemático numa linguagem open source, GMPL, incorporada no Solver- Studio do Excel, que facilmente pode ser usado no dia-a-dia pela empresa para assim auxiliar a tomada de decisão.
