Ergonomia ocupacional em contexto industrial: estudo do ambiente térmico

Abstract

Regarding the current climate of uncertainty, competitiveness and the constant changes in the industrial context, it is more and more important to understand the relationship between the workers and their work environment in order to create work stations provided with the required conditions to reach high performances. From a sustainable point of view, in an industrial context, it is also desirable to accomplish comfortable work thermal environments that use less energy as possible. This project, guided towards Ergonomics and Occupational Health aims to study the thermal environment in two different industrial inner spaces and the workers thermal sensation in these spaces. The case study I was developed in Bosch Termotecnologia and the case study II in Ifavidro, being both of them exploited in the shop floor and linked with warm thermal environments. The same methodology was applied to both case studies, where were used two thermal indexes, the EsConTer index and THI. These two indexes were in agreement, thereby demonstrating a reliable environment thermal pattern in each one of the spaces. The EsConTer index was also applied to workers thermal sensation study, still showing to be a good predictor of workers thermal sensation, even when compared to CBE Thermal Comfort tool, a thermal comfort analysis platform, in accordance with ASHRAE- 55 norm. Thus, it is suggested that the usage of EsConTer index allied with CBE Thermal Comfort tool, could provide a useful and easier understanding of the thermal environment dynamics in an inner space, helping the Hygiene and Security Department to define work environment improvement strategies.
