Contribuição para o conhecimento geológico-petrológico da região de Santa Susana: o Complexo Vulcano-Sedimentar da Toca da Moura

Abstract

O complexo vulcano-sedimentar da Toca da Moura (Turnaciano superior; Cunha et al., em imp.) aflora na região de Santa Susana (Alcácer do Sal), ao longo do limite SW da Zona de Ossa-Morena. As rochas vulcânicas patenteiam uma gama composicional contínua desde basaltos a riodacitos/riolitos. Todas as rochas ígneas estudadas sofreram metamorfismo hidrotermal na fácies dos xistos verdes. Contudo, a distribuição dos elementos imóveis nas amostras de rocha total e as composições de clinopiroxenas relíquias são idênticas às que caracterizam as séries vulcânicas calco-alcalinas em arcos vulcânicos continentais recentes. Sugere-se que o magmatismo orogénico da região de Santa Susana reflecte o fecho do oceano/bacia marginal (?) actualmente representado pelo ofiolito de Beja -Acebuches, ao longo de uma zona de subducção (com inclinação para Norte) operando no limite entre as zonas Sul-Portuguesa e de Ossa-Morena durante o Carbónico inferior.
