Abstract

Com o presente trabalho propõe-se divulgar e explorar a técnica de congelação artificial de solos. Numa primeira parte, é apresentada a técnica, como funciona, quais as suas vantagens e limitações e que parâmetros influenciam as propriedades de um solo congelado. Numa etapa posterior do trabalho, são realizados ensaios laboratoriais, onde se efetua o congelamento de uma areia em 3 fases, cada uma delas com um diferente teor de sal. Os resultados obtidos na fase de ensaios são comparados com um modelo teórico, obtido com o auxílio do software de modelação TEMP/W. Seguidamente, avaliam-se os resultados obtidos, quer nos ensaios realizados com diferentes teores de sal, quer para os provenientes da comparação entre o modelo real e o modelo teórico. Por fim, é feita uma análise no sentido de aferir se esta técnica se revela economicamente rentável ou não.

The present work aims to disseminate and exploit the technique of artificial soil freezing. In the first part, the technique is present ,is shown how it works, its advantages and limitations and which parameters influence the properties of a frozen soil. At a later stage, laboratory tests are performed on a freezing sand divided into 3 phases, each one with a different salt content. The results obtained in the phase of this tests are compared with the ones we get of a theorical model, obtained with the support of a modelling software called TEMP/W. Thereafter, we evaluate the results obtained, either for the tests carried out with different salt contents, or to those from the comparison between the real and the theorical model. Finally, an analysis is made in order to see if this process is economically viable or not.
