A escolha entre medicina convencional e medicina tradicional chinesa

Abstract

In the last decades, in the various developed countries where the western medicine long ago dominates the official health services, the choice for complementary and alternative medicine has been increasing. Portugal, like the other countries, has been lately, working hard on legitimating the use of complementary and alternative medicine. Singapore, on the other hand, is a country where these types of practices are common. From these complementary and alternative practices, the traditional chinese medicine is stands out in Singapore and its use is subjected to regulation since 2000. According to this reality, the present study tries to identify the reasons why patients choose each specific treatment in Portugal and in Singapore.
