Visible Light Communication (VLC) systems using light emitting diodes (LEDs) are very challenging especially in outdoor environments. Long distance data communication using this system is not only impaired by several natural and artificial light sources but also restricted by the transmitted optical power due to human eyes safety. This report discusses the most important noise light sources and their characteristics and explains the basic model. It also develops an effective model for suitable traffic light emitter using LEDs array. Towards the end, it derives the traffic system models using multilane traffic system set up.
