Passivhaus em Portugal: viabilidade económica

Abstract

The high energy consumption of the residential and non-residential buildings sector and the consequent emissions of Green House Gases brought the European Union to create a plan with the objective of reducing by 20% the energy consumption of new buildings until 2020. To this end, the Directive 2010/31/EU was published, it contains in its genesis, the concept of efficient building. This is achieved by the application of the principles of Passive House, which, combined with the energy and economic sustainability, leads to an effectively achievement of the Nearly Zero Energy Buildings. The objective of this thesis is to present the feasibility of applying the Passive House concept in Portugal. For this, the energy performance of a building constructed according to the energetic standard in Portugal and another with the Passive House standard were evaluated, as well as the construction costs of both solutions. Having the respective energy needs, we performed an economic study in terms of overall energy saved and of energy saved by constructive element. It was concluded that it is possible to perform an investment to build Passive House according to the requirements in Portugal, yielding acceptable return periods taking into account the lifetime of a building.
