Comportamento do betão com metacaulino português

Abstract

The present study aims to verify the viability of using portuguese metakaolin in construction. It is intended to compare the mechanical properties between concrete with a portuguese metakaolin, concrete with a commercial metakaolin and concrete without metakaolin. Therefore, an experimental campaign was carried out consisting in laboratory concrete prodution, where cement was replaced by 10% and 20% of each metakaolin. In order to compare its performance, several tests were made to determine compressive strength, modulus of elasticity and chloride penetration resistance. This study presents an assessment of the obtained results, where it’s safe to assume that the partial replacement of portland cement by metakaolin, increases concrete performance and portuguese metakaolin is an important asset to portuguese construction.
