Abstract

O presente estudo, no âmbito da didática da Matemática, centra-se na análise do tema da trigonometria, nos seis manuais escolares portugueses, do 12.º ano de matemática A, em vigor no ano letivo 2012-2013. O manual escolar é um instrumento educativo muito utilizado pelos docentes. Tendo tanta importância no processo de ensino-aprendizagem, a sua análise torna-se indispensável. A opção pela trigonometria deve-se ao facto de ser um tema onde se regista uma elevada taxa de insucesso escolar. Pela diversidade de aplicações e potencialidades, a trigonometria pode assumir um papel preponderante na criação e desenvolvimento de competências, contribuindo para que os alunos adquiram uma cultura matemática mais rica que os ajude a tornar cidadãos mais aptos para intervir na sociedade. Esta investigação, pretende analisar a rede de objetos primários (situações matemáticas, linguagem, conceitos, propriedades, procedimentos e argumentos) propostos nos manuais escolares. No âmbito das situações matemáticas, destacam-se as de introdução/motivação, exemplos resolvidos e tipos de tarefas propostas ao estudante para aplicação dos conhecimentos. Foi ainda analisado a adequação didática das componentes epistémica, mediacional e ecológica, da trigonometria, nos manuais escolares. Utilizam-se algumas ferramentas teóricas do enfoque ontossemiótico do conhecimento e do ensino da matemática na grelha de análise dos manuais escolares. Neste estudo foi privilegiada a análise qualitativa, que permitiu a interpretação dos dados obtidos. Relativamente aos manuais escolares utilizados no estudo, conclui-se que há uma grande preocupação com os conhecimentos prévios. Sobre os conhecimentos emergentes existe uma grande predominância do cálculo algorítmico em detrimento das tarefas de exploração, modelação, conjeturar e argumentar. No que diz respeito à adequação didática do tema trigonometria nos manuais escolares, conclui-se pela análise das suas componentes, epistémica, mediacional e ecológica, que houve adequação. As recomendações emergentes do estudo apontam para futuras investigações nesta área, no sentido de avaliar a adequação cognitiva e interacional.

The present study, within the framework of the didactics of mathematics, focuses on the analysis of the subject of trigonometry, in six Portuguese school textbooks, of the 12th grade of mathematics A, currently in use in the 2012- 2013 school year. The school textbook is an educational tool which is used by teachers quite often. Having so much importance in the teaching-learning process, its analysis becomes essential. The option for trigonometry is related to the fact that it is a topic where there is a high rate of school failure. Due to its diversity of applications and potential, trigonometry can assume a leading role in the creation and development of skills, helping students acquire a richer mathematical culture that will make them become more apt citizens, able to intervene in society. This research aims to analyze the network of primary objects (mathematical situations, language, concepts, proprieties, procedures, and arguments) proposed in school textbooks. In the context of mathematical situations, the emphasis is on the introduction/motivation, solved examples and types of tasks proposed to the student for application of knowledge. The didactic adequacy of trigonometry in school textbooks was analyzed as well. Some theoretical tools of the onto-semiotic knowledge approach and of the teaching of mathematics are used in the grid for the analysis of school textbooks. In this study, the qualitative analysis was privileged, thus allowing the interpretation of the data obtained. On the textbooks used in the study, it is concluded that there is a great deal of concern with the previous knowledge. About the emerging knowledge there is a large predominance of algorithmic calculation at the expense of exploration tasks, modelling, conjecture and arguing. In what regards the didactic adequacy of the topic of trigonometry in textbooks, by analysis of its epistemological, mediating and ecological components, it is concluded that there is adequacy. The recommendations emerging from the study point to future research in this area, in order to assess the cognitive and interacting adequacy.
