Abstract

In un prossimo futuro, è attesa una larga diffusione delle Femtocell LTE in ambiti residenziali e aziendali, dovuta alla semplicità di installazione e ai vantaggi in termini di altro throughput. Questo modello di dislocazione porta ad un interferenza dannosa in entrambi i livelli macro e femtocell e ad un sostenuto aumento di consumo energetico dell intera rete cellulare. In questa dissertazione, è proposto un algoritmo per il controllo della potenza pilota totalmente distribuito, da applicare alle femtocell LTE incorporate in un area macrocellulare, nella quale ogni Femto Base station (FBS) adatta la sua potenza del segnale pilota, e di conseguenza la sua copertura, alla domanda di traffico locale. In scenari di alto carico, le FBS dinamicamente creano zone di alta capacità sotto condizioni di interferenza, che permettono di migliorare la capacità del sistema e scaricare traffico dalla vicina macrocella, minimizzando nello stesso tempo l interferenza co-canale nel livello femtocellulare. In scenari di basso carico, le FBS la cui presenza non è essenziale per le regolari attività di rete, risiedono in una modalità Listen Mode di basso consumo, che permette di realizzare un notevole risparmio energetico sull intera rete femtocellulare. Inoltre, lo schema di controllo della potenza del segnale pilota proposto è scalabile, flessibile e robusto, adatto all'implementazione in ambienti Multi-Macrocellulari.
