In this paper we present some results from Direct Methods of transient stability analysis. Results are stated briefly and the lengthy derivations omitted. The topics covered are: (i) energy functions for classical model and its extension to incorporate fast acting exciters; (ii) energy functions for structure preserving model with frequency and voltage dependent loads. The feasibility of these techniques is established by stating already worked out results. No comparison is presented since the models discussed are exclusive.
