Abstract

Cada vez está más claro que el llamado Tratado de Libre Comercio (TLC), que está pendiente de aprobación en la Asamblea Legislativa, no tiene en Estados Unidos el rango de 'treaty' (tratado) sino de 'agreement' (acuerdo) internacional, tal como lo indica su nombre oficial en inglés: 'Central America & Dominican Republic Free Trade Agreement' (CAfta-DR), ni tampoco su objetivo principal es el 'libre comercio', como nos han querido hacer creer. Me parece que si un nombre le cuadra a su verdadera naturaleza, ese nombre sería: 'Acuerdo para facilitar las inversiones y las ganancias de las transnacionales en Centroamérica y República Dominicana'.
