Aspectos básicos de anatomía y fisiología en terneras de lechería

Abstract

Las terneras cuando nacen presentan, con respecto a su sistema gastrointestinal, una característica importante: son físicamente y funcionalmente dos tipos de animales diferentes. Esto se refiere a que presentan las características anatómicas de un rumiante, es decir, presentan un estómago dividido en cuatro compartimentos; el retículo, el rumen, el omaso y el abomaso. Sin embargo, el estado subdesarrollado del retículo, el rumen y el omaso; la carencia de microorganismos ruminales, la presencia de la gotera esofágica; un abomaso y un estado enzimático intestinal desarrollado, hacen al rumiante recién nacido funcionar como un monogástrico que subsiste con dietas basadas en leche.
