Utilización de sustitutos o reemplazadores de calostro en terneras de lechería

Abstract

Una falla en la transferencia de inmunidad pasiva (FTIP) es un término que se utiliza para indicar un estado en el que las terneras no han podido absorber su cientes anticuerpos o inmunoglobulinas (Igs) provenientes del calostro en su torrente sanguíneo dentro de las primeras 24 horas de vida. Esto es cuando la concentración de Igs es menor a 10 mg/ml o cuando la concentración de proteína sérica total (PST) es menor a 5,5 g/dL. Cuando esto ocurre, se aumenta el riesgo de que los animales adquieran enfermedades como diarreas y neumonía, además las ganancias de peso son menores y los animales podrían producir una menor cantidad de leche cuando llegan a su primera lactancia.
