Transferencia de inmunidad pasiva en terneras y terneros de engorde

Abstract

Durante muchos años, se ha documentado que los terneros al nacer dependen de la transferencia de las inmunoglobulinas (Igs) de la madre, presentes en el calostro. Este proceso se conoce como transferencia de inmunidad pasiva (TIP), considerado como crítico para la supervivencia y la protección de los recién nacidos contra enfermedades infecciosas, ya que al nacimiento su sistema inmune es inmaduro e incapaz de producir suficientes inmunoglobulinas. Consecuentemente, la ingestión y absorción de adecuadas cantidades de Igs, provenientes del calostro, son esenciales para establecer una adecuada inmunidad hasta que su sistema inmune llegue a ser completamente funcional.
