Abstract

El selenio (Se) se considera uno de los elementos trazas más controversiales, pues, a pesar de ser tóxico a dosis elevadas, su defi ciencia se ha convertido en un problema global debido a su esencialidad para un adecuado funcionamiento del organismo, en razón de ser un componente estructural de la enzima glutatión peroxidasa (GSH-Px) y otras selenoproteínas involucradas en la protección antioxidante.
