Abstract

Es bien sabido, que el recurso forrajero es la fuente alimenticia más barata con que contamos en nuestro medio, pero su crecimiento y rendimiento se ve afectado a lo largo del año por una serie de factores ambientales, edáficos, genéticos y de manejo. Dentro de ellos se incluye la luz, CO2, temperatura, humedad disponible, nutrimentos disponibles, tipo de fotosíntesis, estructura de la planta e índice de área foliar, entre otros. Ahunado a éstos y a otros muchos otros factores, se encuentran los efectos detrimentales causados por el ataque de plagas y enfermedades. Las plagas y enfermedades de los pastos, ocasionan grandes pérdidas que muchas veces no percibimos, pero que son de suma importancia, ya que pueden amenazar la persistencia de los cultivos forrajeros.
