Diagnóstico de laboratorio de coccidios intestinales

Abstract

Los coccidios intestinales son un grupo de parásitos unicelulares que infectan el tracto gastrointestinal de diferentes especies animales, incluyendo el ser humano. Los coccidios se transmiten por la ingestión de quistes (estructuras resistentes) presentes en heces contaminadas. Una vez dentro del intestino, los quistes liberan esporozoítos que se multiplican en las células del epitelio intestinal, causando inflamación, diarrea, dolor abdominal y en algunos casos, anemia y pérdida de peso. La infección por coccidios intestinales es especialmente grave en personas con sistemas inmunitarios debilitados, como los pacientes con VIH/SIDA. El tratamiento de la infección por coccidios intestinales incluye el uso de medicamentos antiparasitarios específicos y medidas de higiene para prevenir la propagación de la enfermedad.
