Diccionario de mitología bribri

Abstract

El Diccionario de Mitología Bribri compila la definición de alrededor de 500 nombres de entidades míticas bribris. La motivación de los autores ha sido responder a algunas interrogantes básicas: Aparte de Sibö̀, el dios y eje central de la mitología bribri, ¿cuáles son los personajes mitológicos clave que construyen ese mundo? ¿Quiénes son aliados del dios y quienes son sus adversarios? ¿Cuál es la relación entre todos ellos, cuál es la función de cada uno? El Diccionario se introduce con un estudio sobre este espacio mitológico, abigarrado de seres y de eventos todavía significativos para la cultura. Los bribris son el pueblo indígena de Costa Rica más numeroso y habitan desde tiempos inmemoriales en las montañas de Talamanca, provincia de Limón.
