Abstract

Invasive aspergillosis is the fungal infection of the lung parenchyma, airway, and dissemination caused by the fungus of the genus Aspergillus spp. Invasion occurs with immunosuppression and in critically ill patients and is known as opportunistic infection. For its diagnosis, serum markers, respiratory samples for cultures and markers such as Galactomannan are used, as well as computed tomography. According to the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer / Mycosis it is classified as proven, probable and possible. Aspergillus spp can cause co-infections in COVID-19 patients. The guidelines of the Infectious Diseases Society of America recommend the use of voriconazole as primary therapy.
