Solidaridad de emergencia para situación de emergencia

Abstract

Nuestra región corre contra el tiempo para atender la pandemia, el hambre y el estallido social. En Costa Rica llegamos a este momento con altos y crecientes niveles de desigualdad, pobreza e informalidad laboral. Como circulaba de manera anónima en redes sociales “no estamos en el mismo barco: estamos en el mismo mar, unas personas en yate, otras en lancha, otras solo con salvavidas, y aún otras nadando con todas sus fuerzas”. Esta situación, que sin duda plantea un problema ético, hace peligrar la principal medida para hacerle frente a la pandemia: el distanciamiento físico. Una buena parte de la población tiene que elegir entre el riesgo de contagiarse o la certeza de pasar hambre. Desde el 9 de abril, Proteger, un ingreso básico, es la principal herramienta estatal para abordar este dilema. Solo el propio día de su lanzamiento, la página web del programa recibió 1.726.000 visitas y más de 48.000 solicitudes. Es clara su necesidad.
