El acceso equitativo a la información: promoción desde la academia

Abstract

El documento describe la experiencia de articulación que desarrolló la Escuela de Bibliotecología y Ciencias de la Información (EBCI) de la Universidad de Costa Rica, con respecto a la investigación, la docencia y la acción social. Describe cómo desde la academia es posible brindar a los grupos más vulnerables de un país, la oportunidad de acceso a la información. Se describen una serie de investigaciones que han realizado estudiantes de la Licenciatura en Bibliotecología y Ciencias de la Información de la EBCI-UCR, para favorecer estos grupos. Así mismo, siguiendo los principios de la Universidad de Costa Rica, se brinda un aporte sostenible al bienestar de la sociedad. El acceso a la información es un derecho universal; que en ocasiones no es tan fácil de alcanzar para todos Es por ello que la Declaración de Lyon sobre el acceso a la información y el desarrollo, es una iniciativa que debe ser respaldada por los tomadores de decisión a nivel mundial.
