Abstract

The integrated study of biological systems associated with carbon sequestration and fixation has not traditionally been a priority in the determination of protocols of carbon quantification. This case of scientific reductionism has not permitted an adequate understanding of the weight of biological interactions on the global carbon cycle. It is time for important systems of biological interaction among plants and other groups of organisms, beyond mycorrhizae, to be studied in the previously mentioned context.
