Análisis del impacto de los ciclones tropicales en la Cuenca del Caribe según fuentes hemerográficas (1870-2007)

Abstract

Este trabajo forma parte de una seria de investigaciones en perspectiva histórica-científica el impacto de los ciclones tropicales que han afectado a América Central, el Golfo de México y las Islas del Caribe. El interés de incursionar en el desarrollo de su actividad, de su contexto global y su repercusión para el periodo 1870-2007, obedece a que la documentación y análisis respectivo no es de fácil acceso en su defecto escaso e incluso, inexistente. En este trabajo de investigación se analizan estudios de casos de varios huracanes correspondientes a diversas temporadas entre 1870 y 2007, que tuvieron la capacidad potencial de producir impactos sobre la sociedad.

This work belongs to a research series on historical-scientific perspective about the Tropical Cyclones impacts on Central America, Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Islands. The main goal is to study their development, global context and effects during the period 1870-2007, because usually the documentation and its analysis have associated a scare and difficult access, sometimes even null. This research studies several Tropical Cyclones study cases from 1870 and 2007, based on their potential capacity to produce impacts in society
