Aportes a la comprensión de la identidad étnica en niños, niñas y adolescentes de grupos étnicos minoritarios

Abstract

El presente artículo hace una revisión de la literatura internacional sobre identidad étnica en niños y niñas pertenecientes a grupos étnicos minoritarios, resume los principales resultados de investigación empírica en esta área y discute tres enfoques teóricos ampliamente utilizados para el análisis psicosocial de dichos resultados, a saber, la Teoría de la Identidad Social (Tajfel & Turner, 1979), el modelo bidimensional de aculturación propuesto por John Berry (1984,1997) y los enfoques de la formación de la identidad basados en la teoría de Erikson (1973) sobre la formación de la identidad del yo. La literatura demuestra que el desarrollo de la identidad étnica es un proceso multidimensional y dinámico determinado por factores interindividuales, contextuales y socioculturales.
