Abstract

Costa Rican coastal sea level variation characteristics are unknown. Very few research has been done on this subject, despite the present need to understand rather than the astronomica1 contribution, the participation of some other atmospheric and oceanic phenomena upon the level variation. On this paper, we first focus the practical meaning of knowing about sea level changes; then we explain the procedures for the archivíng, control and analysis of data. Finally, we discuss the astronomical characteristics of the observed oscillation at both litorals and the results from the harmonic and spectral analysis of the observations.
