Cambios de la Irradiancia Solar y Determinación de la Turbiedad Atmosférica en Costa Rica Durante el Eclipse Total del 11 de Julio de 1991

Abstract

Con motivo de la ocurrencia de un eclipse total de Sol, el 11 de junio de 1991, se hicieron mediciones de la radiación global en varios lugares de Costa Rica. En dos de estos lugares, Puntarenas y Santa Cruz, se hicieron también mediciones en la irradiancia en el intervalo de longitud de onda 0,295-0,385 µm. Además, en Santa Cruz se registró la radiación directa y se utilizaron los filtros Schott OG530 y RG630 para determinar la irradiancia en los intervalos de longitudes 0,530-2,8 µm, respectivamente. La radicación global y, consecuentemente, la radiación directa, la radiación difusa y la irradiancia en los intervalos de longitud de onda considerados, decrecieron paulatinamente conforme el sol iba siendo eclipsado, hasta llegar a cero en la totalidad para luego incrementar a sus valores normales. Los datos registrados en Santa Cruz se utilizaron para determinar los parámetros de turbiedad atmosférica de Ângström, α y β. Los cálculos muestran que, entre las 13:00 y las 14:30 HL (Hora Local), los valores de α decrecieron y los de β se incrementaron significativamente. Esto indica que hubo una turbiedad atmosférica alta y predominaron las partículas higroscópicas se incrementó durante el eclipse, cuando la temperatura disminuyó apreciablemente y, consecuentemente, la humedad relativa aumentó, en un intervalo de tiempo relativamente corto.
